TWO HANDS
Two Hands is one of Australia’s most decorated wineries, making its most sought after wines. The ‘two hands’ are Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz, who formed the company in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible Shiraz wines from prized Shiraz producing regions within Australia.
Michael Twelftree’s background includes years of exporting Australian wine to USA and Asia, while Richard Mintz is a former CEO of one of Australia’s leading cooperages in the Barossa Valley. The two old friends set out in 2000 with just 17 tonnes of fruit from the McLaren Vale and Padthaway wine regions. From the start, the wines were well received with a healthy stream of reviews, culminating with Robert Parker’s 2004 declaration of Two Hands as ‘the finest negociant operation south of the equator’.
Two Hands concentrates its efforts on sourcing the best fruit from the best Shiraz vineyards in Australia, working with its growers on achieving the full potential from each individual site. The results speak for themselves.
TASTING NOTES
Max’s Garden exhibits a rich, earthy texture with lifted spice and a well delineated fruit profile. This is a wine with a soft elegant framework that complements the Garden Series for its distinctiveness.
