The Seghesio family has been producing and refining premium red wines in Monforte d’Alba for more than one century. The unrivalled quality of Renzo Seghesio’s wines is assured by the attentive care of the vines, the accurate selection of the grapes, the attentive work in the cellar and the unique characteristics of the Pajana della Ginestra, historical Barolo vineyard.
In Barolo, having connections to Cru vineyards is an excellent thing. Renzo Seghesio is the former mayor of Monforte, and since 1900 his family has owned Cascina Pajana, a small division of the Ginestra Cru Vineyard. Ginestra is one of Barolo’s top Crus, and wines from it can fetch a lot of money per bottle and garner unbelievable scores. After graduating from the University of Turin, Renzo returned to Piedmont in the 1960s to craft wine from his family’s parcels. He also purchased a small plot in La Morra, which adds freshness and earlier approachability than the single-vineyard Ginestra or Pajana bottlings, which sell for around double.
