More than 3000 years ago, the heart of Tuscany was home to the Etruscan civilization, a people noted for their culture and wine…
Today Tuscany is home to the Tolaini Estate, a winery that combines these ancient elements with modern winemaking. At the heart of Tolaini’s practice is sustainable farming that respects the environment and the biodiversity of the land.
Pier Luigi Tolaini is the founder and visionary of the winery. A 4-year search for a top Tuscan vineyard brought Pier Luigi to the prestigious region of Castelnuovo Berardenga, and the properties at Montebello
and San Giovanni. When Pier Luigi first set foot on the amphitheatre-shaped vineyard at Montebello, he knew he had found the perfect balance of climate, soil, and exposure
“The 2012 Valdisanti is based on Cabernet Sauvignon, with Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc in supporting roles. This is a beautiful expression with a full and generous disposition. The wine opens to a dark garnet color and thick consistency. You very much taste the Cabernet in this vintage, with dark fruit aromas backed by savoury spice and smoke. This wine shows slight tertiary aromas as well that add to the background complexity and texture.” Monica Larner ~ October 31st, 2017
