The foundation of the winery in Cupramontana by Dr Gino Umani Ronchi dates back to the 1950s. Later, Eng. Bianchi entered into partnership and the production and marketing of ‘Umani Ronchi’ wines increased notably. Today, Umani Ronchi owns 110 hectares in the Verdicchio Classico area, 60 hectares in the Rosso Conero, and 30 in Abruzzi. Though the winery is a leading exponent of two native Marches wines – Verdicchio and Rosso Conero – wines from foreign grape varieties, notably Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, have resulted in wines that have achieved international acclaim.
