Altesino is a highly regarded, world class winery situated northeast of Montalcino and covering an area of approximately 64 hectares. The vineyards cover an area of approximately 27 hectares, divided into three different sub zones called Altesino, La Velona and Montosoli. The grape variety Sangiovese di Montalcino makes up the largest part of the vineyards, as it is used for Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino and Palazzo Altesi. Altesino has always been determined to produce wines of the highest quality possible; thus, the aging requirements for Brunello di Montalcino are even more stressed in the Altesino cellars.
Brunello can only be described as “Riserva” if it has aged for five years in the cellar. Only produced during the best years, with a limited number of bottles, Brunello Riserva is destined for truly passionate lovers of wine. This garnet red wine has a clear aroma of humus and a broad, complex and ethereal aroma. It maintains such an austere and fascinating character on the palate, emphasising its structure of great depth and power.
Tasting Notes
Brunello Riserva offers a solid, full body and excellent aging potential. Its ample and complex bouquet is reminiscent of violets, wild berries, cedar, leather, tobacco and spices. On the palate, it is austere and seductive with a perfect blend of fruit, acidity and mouth coating tannins. This is the perfect bottle for Brunello lovers.
